Rượu Quê means “wine of the countryside”, and it designates… nothing precise. Neither the seller nor the buyer know exactly what it is made of. You can only count on a mix of alcohol (rice?) probably infused with fruits and sugar, which does not say much. A common sense advice for everybody would be to… Continue reading Rượu Quê

BitChute Support – ok!
I received a reply by email. I had emailed their support before I understood that Vietnamese characters were the issue of the failed uploads. BitChute support replied nicely even after I told them the issue was solved. For a free service, receiving a reply by email a few hours later looks good to me.
Bánh Cuốn
Bánh cuốn are super thin rice crepes that are steamed, filled with minced pork and mushrooms and finally rolled. Our whole family love them! anytime my wife would visit or invite friends, especially with other French-Vietnamese couples, bánh cuốn were a sure way to please the kids and the parents too. However, making them is… Continue reading Bánh Cuốn
Other Video Hosting Platforms
Why use another video hosting service? I am quite happy currently with Vimeo, it does the job nicely. But one day I’ll have to make a choice since their free plan stops at a total of 5GB of videos. Vimeo could change this limit at any time. Also, I am an engineer and I like… Continue reading Other Video Hosting Platforms
Awesome Cantonese Restaurant: Fu Rong Hua (Hibiscus flower)
I did not expect that. Right in the center of the capital, next to the most famous lake for tourists, would not be the spot for the most delicious food. Well maybe with foreign travelers yet to be seen in 2021, restaurants might have adapted. That one is really good: “Fu Rong Hua”, 9 Dinh… Continue reading Awesome Cantonese Restaurant: Fu Rong Hua (Hibiscus flower)
A Walk around Hoàn Kiếm Lake at Night
Gate Hoàn Kiếm Lake This is the most famous lake in the center of Hà Nội, whose name means “return the sword” (for more about the legend, follow this link). If you look at the map, there are plenty of lakes in this capital. That one however is famous, next to the center’s tiny streets.… Continue reading A Walk around Hoàn Kiếm Lake at Night
Theorem
Whatever the width of the pavement, Vietnamese pedestrians just do not care and will walk on the street anyhow” I found a nice place for jogging from time to time – usually twice a week, at least once. The area has sparse traffic and large pavements, surrounded by gardens and trees. I find the sidewalk… Continue reading Theorem
Here We Go Again
This Monday evening was the last of a 4-days week-end which we thoroughly enjoyed. The good news is, the week-end won’t stop! (for the kids). The real news is, Hà Nội is closing schools like last year, and nobody knows when they will reopen. Guess I’m happy I bought a computer for my son. That… Continue reading Here We Go Again
A Typical Everyday Meal
This is what we usually eat in Việt Nam: plenty of vegetables salad: either salad itself or sliced cucumber the everyday fish sauce with chilis, lime juice and sugar (center) bowls of rice, of course proteins: fried tofu in the top-left corner bottom-left: a kind of dried pork meat, fried onions and eggs omelette last… Continue reading A Typical Everyday Meal
Phở Gà
Today is a great day, because I will finally right a wrong. Let me explain. Ten years ago I was eager to write restaurants or hotels reviews on Tripadvisor, feeling it was for the greater good. I enjoyed it and earned a few badges. In 2011 during my first trip to Việt Nam, I tried… Continue reading Phở Gà
